Refund Receipt

A refund receipt is a physical document outlining the refund of a purchase. It includes information about the total purchase price, identifying information about the buyer and seller, what good or service the buyer purchased, and why they returned the good or service. The seller provides this receipt to a customer when a customer has returned an item according to the seller’s refund rules.

What to Include

• Buyer information (name, address, phone, email);
• Description of the returned item(s);
• Receipt number;
• Refund method (cash, check, credit card, other);
• Seller information (name, address, phone, email);
• Signatures of both parties;
• Summary of charges:
  • Cost of the item(s) per unit,
  • Quantities of item(s),
  • Subtotal,
  • Tax rate,
  • Total taxes due,
  • Total amount due,
  • Amount refunded, and
  • Outstanding balance (if applicable); and
• Transaction date.
