Merchants can use it for a credit card payment made by the cardholder, or creditors can use it for a payment made toward a credit account by a cardholder. For the latter, the receipt will also note the account’s outstanding balance, if applicable.
What to Include
- Charge amount;
- Credit card holder’s full name, billing information, and signature;
- Description of the purchase;
- Merchant’s full name, address, and phone number;
- Receipt number;
- Summary of charges:
- Cost of the item(s) or service(s) purchased,
- Quantities of items,
- Subtotal,
- Tax rate,
- Total taxes due,
- Total amount due,
- Amount paid, and
- Outstanding balance (if applicable);
- Transaction date; and
- Transaction time.
