A Goodwill donation receipt is the written record of an in-kind or monetary donation to Goodwill Industries. It includes important information about the contribution, including the donor’s contact information, the donation’s description (in-kind) or the amount (monetary), and the donation date. Monetary donations receive donation receipts via email or physical mail. In-kind donations receipt donation receipts immediately when the donor delivers the donation.

Other Ways to Donate

In-Kind Donations

Donate new and gently used clothing, accessories, and household items to any local Goodwill Donation Center. Goodwill’s retail shops sell the items and use the money to fund local Goodwill programs. In 2021, Goodwill’s in-kind donors diverted more than 3 billion pounds of usable goods from landfills.

Volunteer

Goodwill accepts volunteers that can help people build professional and technical skills, find jobs, build careers, and strengthen finances. Companies can also partner with Goodwill to provide volunteer opportunities to their employees. Find a local Goodwill center to learn about local community-based volunteer options.

Where Do the Donations Go?

Goodwill’s primary mission is to help people find jobs. In 2021, over 123,000 people received job placements with assistance from their local Goodwill organization. Goodwill’s services include all of the following:

  • Career planning services;

  • Credential and degree resources;
  • Financial advising;
  • Interview practice;
